FAQ:

Q: My child is 13 and is eligible for both the Soccer Funatics and MVP. Which program should we choose and what is the difference between the two?
A: It's difficult for Soccer Odyssey to determine levels of play of campers prior to their attendance at camp. Regardless of the program selected, all campers are evaluated for small group placement initially on the basis of age, size, and ability. As the MVP program is more demanding technically and physically, it is best to sign up for the Funatics, and then if the Staff feels that a player should be moved up into a more difficult program then we will do so accordingly.

Q: What lesson will my child miss if I attend a 3 hour session instead of a Double Day?
A: The decision of whether to send your child to our 3 hour camp or Double Day is always a difficult question. Obviously the shorter camp session is less expensive and more convenient (as it only requires parents for one drop off and one pick up of the kids). It is also less intense in terms of length of hours. This might be a consideration for a young camper or a camper who is not used to being involved in a demanding environment for long periods of time. The schedule may also fit the vacation or other needs of the campers family. Certain aspects of Soccer Odyssey Camps programs will be eliminated in order to provide a program with a fitting start and finish. Campers at a 3 hour program, therefore, are likely to have the following excluded from their schedule:

   • functional training
   • match-related exercises
   • large sided games to big goals

Q: What is the ratio of campers:to:staff?
A: At all our individual campers will be in a 10:1 camper to staff ratio. For teams that sign up for Soccer Funatics, MVP, or the College Development Program will be with their team (up to 18) to one Head Staff Coach with an accompanying Camp Counselor.

Q: Who is on the staff?
A: The coaching and administrative staff is made up of trusted personnel with professional and collegiate playing and coaching backgrounds. All Head Staff Coaches are state or nationally licensed and fingerprinted through our state association, Cal-South. Assistant Coaches and Counselors are current or former college players with teaching and coaching aspirations and experience.

Q: Do you offer Goalkeeper instruction?
A: Although Soccer Odyssey Camps is not a specialty position camp, we do offer goalkeeper training as part of our curriculum. All staff members are familiar with the coaching methodology in training goalkeepers within a camp environment. However, depending on the number of goalkeepers in attendance, Soccer Odyssey may bring in a Certified Goalkeeper Coach for daily training specific to the position. If you are unsure if Soccer Odyssey can provide you with the program necessary please contact us.

Q: Are there discounts available?
A: We offer discounts to siblings and teams. For the sibling discount, the first child is full price, then every sibling after receives a $10.00 discount. (Example: Brother Joe $150.00, Sister Jane $140.00, Sister Beth $140.00 etc.) These discounts also apply to the Double Day sessions. Teams will also receive player discounts if they come as a group of 11 or more. (Example Team A comes with 10 players= still $150.00 per player; Team B comes with 13 players= $140.00 per player) This discount also applies to Double Days.

Q: Refunds and Cancellations?
A: If a player receives an injury or becomes ill in the course of the camp, the camp will prorate the remaining funds. If however the camper cancels prior to the first day of camp after full registration, no refund will be applied. We will offer a credit to one of our next camps.
